Reflexology
Written on June 8th in Information
Reflexology has been known since the time of the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt; fell into disuse until late in the nineteenth century when it was rediscovered. We now know that the body is divided into ten zones longitudinally and that organs in the body that fall into those zones are stimulated by pressure points in the feet, which fall into those same zones. Stimulating those pressure points increases the circulation to the corresponding organ, be it liver, spleen, sinuses, eyes, ears etc. resulting in increasing the amount of nutrients going to the cells via the blood circulation, and also removing waste products from the cells. The result is healthier cells in those organs. Healthier cells, and healthier organs. With the massage and manipulation feet feel better after a session, a welcome side effect.
At a Reflexology session, the client reclines on a comfortable padded massage table with the feet elevated. The feet are freshened up with a cleansing lotion, massaged to relax them, and then the pressure points are systematically stimulated. The session ends with further massage and the client taking deep cleansing breaths. The session lasts about one hour.
Repeated Reflexology sessions are beneficial, about one week apart, or more if necessary.
